BAGUIO CITY, Nov. 21 (PIA) - - The Department of Science and Technology is all set to bring the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration in the doorstep of every home with virtual exhibits set this November 23 to 29.
The 2020 NSTW adopts the theme, "Agham at Teknolohiya: Sandigan ng Kalusugan, Kabuhayan, Kaayusan at Kinabukasan", to highlight programs, projects and initiatives of the DOST in addressing health and nutrition concern, bringing in community livelihood interventions, improving local governance and for a better life in the communities, and in ensuring a better future for the country and the Filipino people.
DOST - Cordillera Regional Director Nancy Bantog, who led the launching of the NSTW 2020 in a kapihan media forum here, said the challenges of COVID - 19 will not be a hindrance and all regions will be joining the virtual exhibits and other online events.
The NSTW 2020 will be conducted simultaneously with the Cordillera Regional S&T Fair that is usually scheduled in the fourth quarter of every year, Bantog added announced.
For the NSTW in CAR, DOST - CAR will showcase audio visual presentations (AVPs) on the best SETUP (Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program) adopters from the different provinces of the region. These are the Rebiajo's Food Products of Apayao, Health 100 of Benguet, Mila's Bakeshop of Ifugao, Mt. Zion Bakery of Kalinga, and Mary June Bakery of Mountain Province.
There will also be AVP on DOST - CAR- assisted projects such as the Natural Dye Project in Abra, Gong Project with Benguet, Delfino's Welding Shop in Apayao, Mountain Weld of Mountain Province, the Food Innovation Center in Benguet State University, the Ceramic Water Filter project in Bauko Mountain Province, SETUP Implementation awardee Kerobee Farm, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRMIS), the FASSSTER and Tanod Kontra COVID applications, along with other infographics from other DOST - CAR programs, projects and initiatives.

DOST - CAR also scheduled webinars namely "S&T Behind Food Safety: Chemical Migration and the "Science Behind Food Packaging Materials" set on November 24, which aim to guide micro, small and medium enterprises(MSMEs) under the food processing industry to ensure the quality and safety of their products.
Another event for the MSMEs is the 2020 SETUP Summit: Online Marketing Strategies and OneStore cum SETUP and CEST Awarding is also scheduled on Nov. 26.
A virtual forum, "Communicating Science, Technology and Innovation in the New Normal" for high schools and college students is set on Nov. 27
